You have to spread the news.
As black people we better choose

Are going to sit idly by
And let our legacies die

Who will keep telling our stories of time past?
This is the only way our history will last.

I heard it was no longer fashionable celebrate us
You need to be careful of what you trust

Don’t you see our people losing their pieces of the dream?
It makes me want to scream
We have to reach back
We are under attack

Don’t be deceived today
You are being led astray

Doors are closing fast
Too many of us have made it past

We have to keep the light on
We still have some who need to make this run
