LANSING, MI – Gearing up for relocation to a larger and more modern facility, the Lansing Community College Dental Hygiene Clinic still needs patients from the community. During an appointment visitors receive assessments of oral health and can receive treatments that include dental prophylaxis (teeth cleaning), dental health education, fluoride and sealant application, X-rays, custom fit mouth guards, sealants, tooth whitening, nitrous oxide sedation and local anesthesia at a very affordable price.
The clinic provides invaluable experience to the LCC dental hygiene students by providing them with a variety of patient care situations that could not be duplicated without patients. At the end of a session experienced, clinical faculty evaluate all patient care. Faculty maintain their skill levels and knowledge with continuing education and private practice experience.
The Dental Clinic provides top quality care at a fraction of the price of private practice care. Children under 18, LCC students and senior citizens are charged an average of $20.00, while adult fees average between $20.00 - $30.00, depending on the complexity of the treatment. There is an additional charge only for sealants, whitening and nitrous oxide sedation. The LCC Dental clinic is open Tuesday and Wednesday, from 8 a.m. - 12 p.m. and 1 – 5 p.m. and Thursday 1-5 p.m. To make an appointment, call 517/483-1458.
After spending the last 30 years located in the basement of the Arts and Sciences Building, the Dental Clinic will relocate to the newly constructed Human Health and Public Services Building in Fall 2005. The plans for the clinic include installation of a state of the art teaching system that incorporates MPEG 4 technology. It also incorporates cameras in the treatment area so that faculty can observe student hygienists on a computer screen and offer comments privately via headset communication devices. This system improves the immediacy of feedback and allows for timely corrections and adjustments of clinical techniques.
