Before it was a produce store it was Freddie’s Place which was a pool hall. After the owners, purchased the building they decided that they did not want to be owners of a pool hall. After much deliberation, they decided to open a place that would help the community with making healthy choices. Most Americans find it a challenge to eat at least five servings of fruits and vegetables a day. Many of the stores in the area do not sell vegetables and fruit. One of the owners, Mr. LaPriest Blocker said that they wanted to uplift the community and noted that the health benefits of fresh fruits and vegetables far outweigh what is currently available in the immediate area. Beginning on August 7, 2006, their will be more vegetables like Michigan potatoes and plantain. Every Wednesday, they will have a “Brown Bag” special which will offer a substantial savings. They are open on Monday - Friday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. On Sunday they will be available to service the church goers from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. They also accept the Michigan Bridge Card and WIC.
