LANSING, MI - A Lansing Eastern High School student has won the Greater Lansing United Nations (UN) Association's 2006 Craig B. Stuttman Outstanding Student in Global Education Award.

This year's winner, Sade Sellers, the president of the Model UN at Eastern High school was honored at the Annual GLUNA United Nations Day Dinner Banquet on Sunday, October 22 at the East Lansing Hannah Community Center, 819 Abbott Road.

GLUNA Student Award Alum, Jesse Sampson, as well as Dr. Constance Currier, coordinator for international programs for MSU College of Nursing will be speaking at the banquet.

A plaque awarded to Sellers will be displayed at Eastern High School for one year as well as a $100 donation in her name donated to a global education project of choice.

She chose UNICEF because for the past four years she has been doing Halloween fundraising for the organization.   She stated that she believes in UNICEF because of their international presence and the work they do with children.

In May of 2006, she visited the UN and Ground Zero in New York City.  The trip inspired her to do more on an international level.

She has also visited Honduras.

One other mid-Michigan student, from Mason, was awarded by GLUNA, as well as a teacher from Eaton Rapids.
