Sparrow Cancer Center welcomes new physician

     The Sparrow Regional Cancer Center welcomes medical hematologist/oncologist Richard Miranda, MD, to its medical staff.
No stranger to Sparrow Health System, Dr. Miranda has served as a registered nurse in the Sparrow IV Specialty Department and a physician with the Sparrow Emergency Department.
     Most recently, he has served as an emergency medicine physician at Clinton Memorial Hospital, a division of Sparrow Health System, and as a research associate for Michigan State University’s Carcinogenesis Laboratory.
     Dr. Miranda, a 1998 graduate of the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine, completed his work with the MSU Internal Medicine Residency Program in 2001. He graduated from the MSU Hematology/Oncology Fellowship Program in December 2004.
     Dr. Miranda’s current areas of research interest are gene profiling and cell signaling as they apply to tumor growth.
   He is a member of the American Medical Association, the American Society of Hematology, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American Association of Cancer Research, the National Hispanic Medical Association, the Michigan State Medical Society and the Alpha Omega Alpha Society.
    Dr. Miranda resides in Okemos with his wife and their four children.
