News Spotlight: CATA Hosts 14th Annual Community Health Fair

LANSING, MI—CATA will host its 14th Annual Community Health Fair on Friday, April 19, 2013 at the CATA Transportation Center from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. This is a FREE event.  Co-sponsors joining CATA in this endeavor are the MSUCOM Community Integrated Medicine and the Tri-County Office on Aging.

“We are pleased to see so many customers and residents take advantage of this community event each year,” remarked Sandy Draggoo, CATA CEO/Executive Director.  “Free health screenings can really make a difference in someone’s life. Thanks to the participating agencies and organizations, we are able to put those in need in touch with the right resources.” 

Local health and human service organizations will be on hand to provide a variety of health screenings and services. Visitors can be screened for cholesterol, glucose, blood pressure levels, bone density, oral cancer, stroke risk, vision, and spinal conditions.  Other free services include public insurance enrollments, substance abuse, asthma prevention, prenatal and family planning services, WIC enrollment, mental health, nutrition education, celiac disease, senior services and a host of additional resources.    

The CTC is located at 420 S. Grand Avenue in downtown Lansing, between Kalamazoo and Lenawee Streets.  The fair is accessible by bus—14 CATA routes serve the CTC during the event.  If you need a ride to the health fair, CATA Customer Service Representatives are available to assist with trip planning. Call 394-1000 for assistance. Spec-Tran customers should reserve rides in advance by calling 394-CATA (2282).
