Thompson, L. (2001). One riddle, one answer. New York: Scholastic Press. This book is about a clever daughter of a sultan that uses a difficult riddle to find her true love. She rides throughout the country looking for a man that can answer her riddle. She gets many clever answers, but she will only accept one. Finally, when she is about to give up, a farmer runs to her and asks for a chance. He explains how he loves numbers and how he figured out the riddle. She was instantly excited that this simple man figured out her riddle and they were married. This book offers educators a way to incorporate mathematics into their read alouds or language arts program. I would use it with third grade and above.
