Amia Albershia Davis, 18, is currently a senior at Waverly High School enrolled in an Advanced Placement (AP) college preparatory curriculum. Her academic honors include numerous High Scholastic Achievement Awards, two Social Studies Department Awards, an English Department Award, Computer Technology Department Award, two Orchestra Department Awards, Waverly Academic Letters and Waverly Athletic Junior Varsity Letter.  Amia has participated in the Waverly School District Gifted and Talented Program and the Midwest Academic Talent Search of Northwestern University.  She was allowed to take classes at Lansing Community College and to take the SAT College Exam in 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grade and the ACT College Exam in 9th Grade.  She has attended four summer programs at Michigan State University sponsored by the College of Human Medicine. After graduation, Amia plans to study medicine at the University of Michigan and to become an Obstetrician/Gynecologist.

 
Amia is a very active student at Waverly High School.  She served as Vice President for her freshman class, she was elected and is serving her second term in the Student Senate and currently holds the office of Treasurer.  Amia is Secretary for the National Honor Society, a member of the Spanish Honor Society, Treasurer of Peer Assistance Leaders (PALs), a member of the school Tennis Team and the Props Master in the Waverly Technological Society.  She has participated in the Black Student Union and the Poetry Club she is currently on the Tennis, Quiz Bowl and Destination Imagination teams. Amia plays violin in the Chamber and Festival Orchestra and is a member of the Waverly Marching Band Drum Line.
 
Amia is serving her second term as Teen President for the Greater Lansing Chapter of Jack and Jill. She has served as Chaplain for the Debutantes and Secretary of the Mayor’s Youth Advisory Committee. Amia has maintained an active involvement in various community service projects and has earned the bronze Presidential Community Service Award from the President of the United States two years consecutively for providing over 120 hours of community service.
 
Amia has enjoyed ten years of ballet, jazz and modern dance training and has traveled extensively with her family to Canada, Hawaii, Jamaica, Bahamas, Aruba, San Juan, Belize, and St. Thomas, St. Kitts, Cayman Islands, Trinidad, Mexico and various parts of the United States.
