Sunday, May 13, 2007

LANSING, MI --Mid Michigan Leadership Academy will be breaking ground on their new garden on Monday. May 21 from 9 am to 4 pm.
The East Lansing Graduate Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, Chi Epsilon Omega, answered the call for new garden supplies.
The garden project will foster the development of healthy eating habits and an understanding of how plants are grown to be food.
President Deana M. Newman said, "The prevalence of overweight and obese children in Michigan has increased significantly, however, it is a known fact that behavior modification is the ultimate remedy.
Therefore, we were more than delighted to assist the efforts of the NorthWest Initiative and Mid-Michigan Leadership Academy in promoting healthy food choices for children."
